Jewelry Box #2: Top veneer

« Part 1: beginings Part 2 of Jewelry Box series Part 3: The Top »

I have picked out the venner I will be useing for the top of my jewlery box. I decided on birds eye maple. Now alot of people said to get some kind of rosewood veneer, but the birds eye maple was so beautiful and I couldn’t resist. I am going to be staining the oak with a nice brownish golden look, and the maple will probobly just be left the way that it is. It should look good with the oak when the oak is stained. I want to hear what you think about this choice. I think that it could be a good contrast, or mabye a bad mismatched comination, what do you think? Thanks so much.

Sounds good to me. I certainly wouldn’t stain the birds eye veneer, you can’t improve on that.

Sounds good to me as well. They should be a nice contrast and birdseye will give the box a lot of character.

Sounds like a plan to me.

I really like Bird’s Eye maple.

Do you have anvacuum bag or will you be using plywood and cauls for clamping the veneer?
