Todays Rant!!!!!!!!!!!@#$%^&*()_

Well today as I am leaving the shop after working on a project for a local fundraiser yes another faux bar. Wants 24 foot bar that looks like a million dollars for less than 150 dollars. I will post pictures from later year and this years next week. A local winery calls where we have some of our bigger items and the girl says can I come down as on of our deck chairs broke when a customer sat in it. Now I have stood in ours and weigh well over 350 and no problem. So when I see it and the whole seat is broken I had to ask who or what sat in it. Well this guy sat in it around 550 pounds. GEEZZ what was he thinking why not the bench or just stand. So I guess I have to put a MAX LOAD sign on all our items.

Thanks for all the positive feedback and I will be adding the entry way table to the website soon so you can see all of it. New items are on they way , but just landed a major project 5 bars and more in a new wine tasting facility. WOW. have until April 15th to finish it so new items will be on hold for a while.

I need a good program for figuring out cutting from sheet goods. Any suggestions? free is a good price too.
I will be in Eugene for a unique home show the Good Earth Home and Garden Show
Should be very interesting and good contacts.

Keep making sawdust and beautiful woodwork

Funny – but I actually feel sorry for the big guy that sat in your chair. Imagine how embarrassing it must have been for him to break the chair – what in the world was he thinking???? Wonder if he will sue somebody? And what did they expect you to do? Hopefully they didn’t ask you to replace the chair for them – They certainly should have some liability in the disaster.

Must have been one heck of a thud. I sure hope they don’t think you owe them a “freebie.”

I sure hope the guy wasn’t hurt when he collapsed the chair. Congrats on the contracts. Business must be good but I am sure that it is a reflection of your craftmanship.

How about posting pics of the bars when you finish them. That would be nice to see.

I use Cutlist (available from Cutlistplus.com) to design sheet good cutouts. The basic version is relatively inexpensive ($30) but the company does offer three additional editions that run up to $500. The program generates cutlists for both sheet goods and lumber, maintains inventory, can be used for pricing and inventory. The basic version is more program than I need but it does help me with designing parts from sheet good material.

Hope this helps.

That reminds me of what happened to my partner Laurie’s ancient chair. It was hand-tooled by the Spainards around 400 years ago and was owned by a Duke in England. Her uncle got it from the castle years ago and passed it on to her. A friend of hers, wanting to feel like royalty, sat in it, which weakend the joints. Now the wood is seperating. We put it in the gargage, nicely covered, for safe keeping but I’m concerned about it being out there semi-exposed to the elements. Hopefully we can find someone who can gently repair it. But when we bring it back in the house I will have a sign that says, NO SITTING. :) When I get the energy I’ll post a picture of it.

I sometimes wish that everything had a weight limit on it.

We have an exam table at the Dr’s office I work at and we have some large patients and one of my Doc’s is always coming out asking the weight limit on it because it is BOWING, not a little, but ALOT. The table is pretty stout but I have seen it bow alot myself and sometimes feel pity for the poor tree that died to make it. LOL

Hello
I saw your chair in this forum and I think it is the greatest. I would like to make one like this one by myself. Is there any way you could help me with this project by letting me know how to go about making such a chair. I have an access to lots of wine barrels here in Calistoga where I live. I would appreciate any help from you.
Sincerely
luba
