Inspired by Franks walks in the woods, I wanted to take some time to reconnect with nature and the woods. The walk through the woods was for me and the photos are for Frank as this environment is quite a bit different than where he normally walks. I will not subject anyone to any of the poetry that I am capable of providing.
The Cosumnes River Preserve is about 30 miles south of Sacramento and is easy to get to if you live in the area. It is know for it’s wetlands and for the Sandhill Cranes that nest here. Here is a link to the Preserve’s web site.
The river
One of several turtles that I saw on the walk.

A Valley Oak

A thistle in the field

I wonder what is inside of this

Thanks for the inspiration Frank!

Glad you didn’t find out what was in that amorphous blob…
Thanks for the pictures.

Actually there was a tree covered in burls… That was one of the larger ones.

And you call yourself a Lumberjock? And you weren’t carrying a chainsaw in your back pocket?

I agree with Obi – Obviously you were never a “Boy Scout” (Be prepared) – Never leave home without a chainsaw! – I miss these type of views – Beautiful setting.

Thanks for the virtual walk, Wayne! I used to volunteer at the visitor’s center at the Cosumnes River Preserve, and I’ve walked those trails many times. Looks like you picked a gorgeous day for it!
