My original trade was electronics before I drifted into remote site mining for 16 years. The last decade has been spent slowly collecting all the appropriate toys during field breaks. Now that I am back in Oz permanently I plan on getting my woodworking skills to the level that I can create 1930s style radio console cabinets. I have a collection of old radios that have been repaired but the mass produced mdf cabinets need replacing.

Great looking workspace. All it needs is a peacock (running joke about my shop).

Being down under, he probably has a kangaroo as his mascot.

Great shed Wayne (I refuse to call it a ‘shop!). Nicely layed out and very neat and tidy.

PS: Why do Americans always think we keep roos as pets? Don’t they realise that’s how we get to work or school?

Howdy Bill. I can do better than that. I’ve got a Kangaroo tatooed on my left bicep ! I was a 17 year old boy in basic training, we had a night free from barracks and went to the nearest pub (bar) that just happened to have an all night tattoo shop right next door….what a coincidence eh !

My cousin has a chicken processing plant in Canada. Someone asked him to process some Emus.

Biggest dang chicken I ever saw.

Emu riding? I think I would rather have Frap’s donkey, them birds are mean. Great shop all it needs now is some sawdust piles.

Hey Buckskin,

I do make them, but my wife cleans them up ! You aint seen nothing till you’ve seen a house proud Chinese woman at work. How many of you get your workshops mopped out regularly?

Mopped? Not me! I do use my blower to blow it out from time to time and dust collector to vacuum it. Does that count? Looks like just the spot to build something.

Hi Wayne,

You posted this well before I came on board but I am glad it surfaced on my list. Gorgeous shop space. I was wondering about the lack of sawdust and read your response. My wife isn’t this fastidious but she does yell at me a lot for getting sawdust on the floor. :) Of course when SHE comes in and sweeps it out all my tools end up stacked along the walls nice and orderly but you can’t get to anything and use it.

You have a really nice shop and some good looking tools to play with. Thanks for the post.

G’Day Wayne, good so see another Aussie. I like the speaker units. Look forward to seeing your radio console cabinets.
