Ok, so I called Woodcraft and Jet, the people at Jet were far easier to talk to and more appologetic of the situation, but regardelss, neither were able to offer me any good solution… So, not wanting to miss out on the price I got, and knowing that Woodcraft has a brick and mortar store here in Nevada (albeit it’s an 8 hour drive), I started thinking….
I called a local vendor here in Vegas to see if they could match the pricing… First I spoke with a customer care rep who said “Well, we don’t have the 708674PK… but we do have the 708675PK, let me see if we have any of those in stock… Oh, wow, we have plenty of those in stock!” Which to me sounds like they have a pretty big inventory… one they might want to shrink ;-) So I then called Woodcraft to have them fax me the invoice(knowing that pricing on the website has changed because the sale’s over… I knew I needed proof from Woodcraft of the pricing.) The owner of the store is out of town and the sales person I was dealing with by this point asked if I could fax the invoice over so he could e-mail it to his boss who is on vacation and out of town till tomorrow evening…(I already like this place, the boss is working even when he’s on vacation!)
So, I e-mail it to the sales rep to forward on to his boss… 15 minutes later I get a call… To make a long story slightly shorter… They can’t go as low on the pricing, BUT, their delivery charge is only $60.00 even for both the dust collector and the table saw… Woodcraft charges 125.00 excess weight fee + 80.00 for lift-gat/rsidential for the tablesaw alone, + an additional 55.00 excess weight fee for the dust collector… that’s 260.00 in fees alone!
So for 2139.55 I can get the tablesaw with the 50” instead of the 30” fence, and the dust collector delivered tomorrow… Through Woodcraft I would get the 30” rip saw and dust collector delivered sometime in June(maybe?) for 2040.00… so for 100.00 more I get an additional 20” cutting capacity and immediate delivery… Does that sound like a good deal? Please comment…

It sounds like a good deal to me. It’s almost worth the extra $100.00 just for the customer service you received from the local(?) guy.

Yeah, he’s a local guy… 10 minutes from my office, less than 30 minutes to my house in traffic… :-)
These guys also cut me a deal on a 708119 mobile base for the XACTA Saw a couple days ago… They didn’t have any new in the box but they had just put a display saw on one the other day… The wheels didn’t even have any wear marks on them… they took 10 bucks off the price, packed it up for me and I was on my way :-)
How does that saying go?

Sounds like you have established a good relationship with a local vendor. That’s fantastic.

One last round of negotiation… After doing the math a little better it’s gonna be $137.27 more to get it locally than from Woodcraft… I realized after posting this that I would need the 708158 extension for the 708119 base I bought from the local guy to make it work with the 50” fence… List on that is $85.00 and the street price is $50.00… I’m guessing that wholesale is around $30.00-$35.00 I e-mailed them back and said if they can throw that in with the deal at no charge I’ll be there this afternoon to pay for it. We’ll see what happens :-)

Woo Hoo for you. What a deal. You are getting a nice saw at a rock bottom price with a ton of add ons.
I am excited for you. I agree with Gary about the installation blog and the reviews.
Let us know what is going on we all like to see these kind of buys.

This is a life changing purchase for the way you work in the shop.
You will most certainly be glad that you got the longer fence. I wouldn’t want it any shorter and I think you will love it.
I am really excited for you and this very important purchase. You won’t believe that you were working without this saw.

If you ever get into cutting sheet goods for cabinets or other projects you will be glad you bought the bigger fence.
