Bob, I hope this raises mucho bucks for this cause. If you post a link to the fund raiser I’m sure we could dig deep and help. It’s been a while since I’ve been to the Cape, let alone P-town, but if memory serves the waves can be quite daunting. Take care, and I hope you have some sort of chase craft.

Bob, I am glad to see that you are not being idle. The project’s design looks outstanding. I am really interested in seeing the final product- if you can work in some shop time that is.

I wish you luck with both the marathon and the cause. As an environmentalist I applaud your effort and dedication for this cause it is a valuable one that tends to be largely overlooked.

Thanks all….especially for the offers of support. I’m still in the early stages of planning this but we are planning awareness campaigns, beach cleanups at both ends, support boats, sponsorship marketing,...and the all important after party….not sure how much actual partying I’ll be doing after 22 miles of paddling though…:). I’m headed to Maui for a couple of weeks to help my brother with his board and paddle showcase ( I know…tough job, but someone has to do it). Once I get back the planning starts in earnest. I’ll let you know if we need some help Deb….thanks for the offer.

Read the article from Best of Life above. I guarantee it will disturb you. An area in the Pacific twice the size of Texas filled with plastic trash? And that’s not the worst of it.

The 3’ comment was anecdotal from my brother who goes fishing in Alaska most every year. It has to do with remote beaches that prevailing ocean currents dump trash on. Here’s a related article.

This website puts a somewhat unusual positive spin on it but it’s amazing that plastic toys spilled into the Pacific in 1992 are now washing up on beaches in the Atlantic. Just shows how far reaching the problem is.
