I finally got started on cutting the planks for the bridge. I hope I can get this done in time to submit as my entry. I may have to submit some previous projects if I don’t get finished this weekend.
I bought my son-in-law this Dewalt contractors saw last weekend as a gift for helping me install all new windows in the house. I like it so much I’m going to put one on my birthday/christmas/fathers day gift list ( all tools on that list as you can imagine) Very light, powerful, nice rack and pinion fence, lots of nice features.
I used it to build a resaw sled to handle the 4’ cedar logs. I’m glad he left it here until we get the windows all done.
The sled works OK but I need to add some bearings or something….needs to slide easier.
Once I got a flat face I clamped the fence.
The cedar is looking good….I just hope I get enough boards out of the logs I have.
I should cut the remaining wood tomorrow night. I hope to get it finished just in time.
This is the bridge I’m replacing. It was made from a section of left over cedar fence as a temporary structure 8 years ago….:)
No doubt Don will notice the small pieces at the base of the bandsaw….perfect for a small box….which is what I have planned for them…....:)

Actually on the #3 photo down, after looking at the cedar on the bandsaw…..I then looked outside. Now I can’t stop looking at all the wonder-full green outside there….great chunk of green land there….

That’s some beautiful wood, & I like your re-saw setup.
I had an old issue of Shopmith Magazine that had a nice re-sawing setup, but I can’t find it. I think it had rollers on it. Maybe someone could find this article on the INTERNET. I’ve tried with no success.

Love the red cedar. Looks like a trip to Kansas is in my future, or Texas. I have not saw much of it around my part of Oklahoma.

Good looking fence set-up…
Looks like there’s possibly a can of wax in one of those pics…that may help a (little) bit – for now.
How green is that wood – or how dry is the wood? Probably doesn’t matter a too too much for the bridge project, but just curious where the wood is at!

Os – I’ve got a Highland Woodworking Woodslicer on it…..4 tpi.
Bob – Yes the bandsaw is finally back in shape….running well but this thickness was almost too much for it. The cedar is local. My daughters boyfriend got it for me. It grows in abundance around here.
Frank – my garden is a mess, most of what you see just beyond the shed is weeds. We’ll be putting it back into shape this fall. Going to be half perrenials and half veggies next year.
Dick – I built this from recollection of one I saw and added the extra long fence. I had the plans for a good one and somehow missplaced the magazine. I’m still going to add to this. I may make it a double sled and have a crank handle to feed the wood. I’m thinking mini-mill. Wish I had opted for more hp when I bought the saw. I had to feed this fairly slow.
Buck – this wood is local actually. I also have some larger logs that I don’t want to cut for this project. I have plans to use them whole.
Dorje – I did wax it. Helped for sure. As I mentioned to Dick I’m going to play with this setup some. I want full infeed and outfeed support and a threaded rod on a crankhandle to move the sled. The wood is very green, hopefully that will work for me. The plan is for half lap joints pegged with fox tenons on one end and wedge tenons on the other. The dowels are very dry white oak with dry cedar wedges. I’m hoping the dowels/tenons swell up from the surrounding moisture as the woods equalize and fully lock this together.
