I'm new to woodworking, and circumstance has me looking at a 6'x6' storage room as a workshop. However, instead of being bummed out about it, I'm taking it as a challenge and doing what I can to work around it.
This brings me to hand tools. They're a lot more compact, so that's where I'm leaning for now. Besides, so many beautiful pieces of woodworking were built before machines, I can't help but believe that this will not be a bad thing at all.
However, in acquiring hand tools, I found another passion as well. I really love restoring/rehabbing old tools. I love taking an old, beat up tool that nobody wants and breathing new life into it. I love seeing it pop back to life and become a viable tool again that others can admire as well.
Now, I'm just eager to put steel to wood and get going. I just have to remember that mistakes will teach me more than doing it right. Unfortunately, mistakes cost more than doing it right too ;)

Hey, thanks for swinging by and saying hi. Man, I thought I had the smallest shop in the room (at 6 1/2 by 8 1/2). Got me beat! Looking forward to seeing some pics and how you lay it out. I’ve got a couple pics of mine over on my site.
See ya around!

Hey Tomcat—
Notice the tag line. A word of warning, however. Once one starts down the slippery slope of neander-woodworking… Well, just say… you’ve been warned!
