Greetings, All

My name is Joseph and I’m new to the community. I’m 29, Male, FL. I was originally born in Haiti but raised in Florida. I love art and i love wood. When i brought them together 2 years ago i fell i love. I currently hold a position as IT director at a local hotel chain in Miami. I’m taking carpentry classes at a local adult school. When I joined this class I realized there was a huge difference between carpenters and wood workers. I would like to one-day call myself a woodworker but today I’m just a newbie. Wood is my passion and it’s what i do whenever i can. I’d leave my job and do it all day if i could. I joined lumber jocks so i could one day call myself a certified lumber jock and share the knowledge that I’ve gained to those who seek it. I’m hear listening to, and learning from everyone i make contact with. I’m everyone’s apprentice and everyone’s my teacher. Thou we are strangers now i hope to create long lasting relationship with my fellow wood lovers.

Thank you EVERYONE

-- What can i say i'm just doing what i love.

You are most welcome, Joseph. Again I want to welcome you to this community. We all have the opportunity both to learn from and contribute to the success of this community and you certainly are no exception. You bring a unique set of skills and abilities to this group that are as important as anyone else’s. We are simply glad to have you on board and I am looking forward to seeing some of your work.

Welcome to LJ’s! I too am a newbie and I’ve found that at LJ’s you’ll find mature, enthusiastic and helpful people to lend advice when asked for. You couldn’t have come to a better place. Make yourself at home.

Welcome to Lumberjocks. The projects are an inspiration, the information is priceless and the people are supportive. The only problem is, the site can get addictive.

God Bless

OH man have you got “it” bad! You came to a great place for sharing in your love of woodworking.

I loved reading your background story. Yes, there is a difference between woodworking and carpentry, because I am both. I know carpenters that are not woodworkers and I know cabinet shop employees that are not woodworkers or furniture makers. They are just worker bees. Here at LJ you will find a great community that covers the entire woodworking spectrum.

I am a carpenter (remodeling contractor) by trade and I loved art too. Everything clicked in a moment of epiphany when I realized that it is all related; art, architecture, and furniture making. Regardless of the medium or the discipline, it is all based on design and the principles of design are universal. It sounds like you have hit that moment of enlightenment. YAAAY!

So you can consider this my formal welcome to the LJ community since I missed you earlier. I am looking forward to watching you grow in your skills, just as I have with so many others. It is such a great journey to take and too good to keep to yourself! I look forward to seeing the projects and posts.
