I am just starting out; I have limited funds and limited space (I am in a wheel chair sometime). I have purchased several Craftsman (Sears) items for what was a really good price, now I hear that Craftsman is “no good”, or is bad quality through and through…has anyone had any good experiences with Craftsman…is the equipment at least good enough to start with?
Thanks for your feedback

Hello Tem,

Let me welcome you to LJs. I hope that you will find this to be an exciting and rewarding aspect of your woodworking journey.

Hi Tem,

Your question about the quality of Craftsman tools would best be posted as a forum topic. It will get more views there than here. Craftsman tools are fine to start with. I happen to have a tablesaw and a miter saw. I am ready for my second generation tools and will go with something other than Craftsman. But a number of jocks on board here have Craftsman tools. Several of their tools have gotten good reviews in woodworking magazines.

Welcome to Lumberjocks. The projects are an inspiration, the information is priceless and the people are supportive. The only problem is, the site can get addictive.

God Bless

welcome to LJ’s…this is a great place to learn and share your work…

good luck on the shop tools hunt…I dont have any craftsman tools so i did not commment on your forum…but when I started out a year ago I went with Ryobi band saw and table saw to save money with the idea that If they broke down or were not of good quality I would upgrade over time…well…less then a couple months later I had new tools…

It really depends on what you want to do…how much you want to use them…good luck…
