I am a Junior high shop teacher. After I was hired 3 years ago my school burned down. Finaly, after sharing with another school, my new school is almost done. I am always on the lookout for new exciting projects for my students.

Shopteacher- welcome to LJ’s. Maybe I’m the old shop teacher you’ve been looking for? I taught wood shop at the intermediate level for 30+ years (6th,7th, and 8th grade). Maybe I have some ideas for you. I need to know what tools and machines your students are allowed to use and how much of a project you are willing to help them with, I mean do for them. For most of the years I used silhouette type patterns that I copied from books or a an artistic friend who could draw animals and stuff and the students traced the patterns and cut them out, sanded like crazy and applied Deft and took them home and said “look what I made”. Then I had the more difficult projects like band saw boxes and banks. A nice pencil box, and what when over the best was a 1/14 scale indy car that used RC decals for realism. If any of this sounds good let me know. bob, ps I like your motto, I also didn’t let any crapmanship go home.

Shopteacher- I just checked out your web site and I’m impressed with your credentials, I guess the good old Industrial arts curriculum has really left us. The last two years of my teaching was technology. I think I would have been happier if they left my wood shop alone. I see that your students are 7th, 8th, and 9th grades. I still might be able to help you. later bob
