The actual shop cat is Bosco, a tuxedo Norwegian Forest Cat with a definite and refined sense of style and taste. He supervises from on high (a shelf top) as I destroy expensive hardwoods. I'm a retirement eligible IT manager who is simply hanging on until
a) The economy improves and I can tap my IRA/401K safely,
b) They throw me out for lipping off,
c) I get done buying all the supplies and tools I want while I still have surplus free cash flow.
IT was a good ride for much of the last +35 years, but it's gotten pretty sorry in this last decade. I won't miss it when I'm gone.
I have done rough carpentry, fine carpentry, and some limited fine woodworking/furniture. Right now (2008) I'm taking classes, improving skills, building my shop and occasionally doing small things I give away to family who are too polite to not take them. In the long run I want to have a small shop that does high quality smaller projects. I'm in this for the long haul - there is time to do it right.
