A newbie to woodworking. I have slowly begun to build up my tools in order to begin a basic woodworking hobby. I would ideally like to build my own 'basic' workbench in an apartment so I can dabble in making small things such as a shelf, box, birdcage and maybe graduate to other things. My knowledge at this point is VERY limited so I will appreciate any advice from the pro's.

Thanks All for the Welcome. I have looked at a couple of videos on safety. Best to get off on the right foot first. Very impressed with the young man who showed safety tips around his workshop. No doubt he will do well as he learns more.

I will most likely be perusing all the posts and may have a few questions before I start.

Thanks to everyone for the kind welcome. I will enjoy looking around this forum getting ideas on what to do first. I don’t know how many Canadians are on this forum but we have a tv show called Canada’s Worst Handyman. It is very funny but also quite informative about how to do jobs.

Thanks again and have a great summer with all your toys.

Thanks again for all the welcomes. I have picked out a project to do (relatively simple I think for a first timer)and am looking forward to starting it whenever I get the time. I have been looking at the wooden bowls (Trifern I think) and hope, one day to make one or two. They are really impressive.
