I live in Dallas, Texas and work in the Information Technology field specializing in Telecommunications. Woodworking has always been a passion of mine but only the last 5 or 6 years have I had the time and money to really get into it regularly. Currently I am 46 years old, single have my own home with an oversized 1.5 car garage that doubles as my wood shop. My kids are all furry with 4 legs except for 2 Parrots that I have. My kids/pets include "Fred" my choc lab, 3 cats all indoor and the 2 Parrots a Cockatoo and a Conure. The only things kept in the shop other than woodworking tools are my lawn care tools and sometimes my motorcycle but no cars ever!

My shop is a constant work in progress as I change things around when I see good ideas from you guys on Lumberjocks and in magazines. I am trying to organize my shop for a normal and comfortable work flow using the available space that I have.

Currently my wood working shop consists of the following items:
Craftsman 10" 2.5 hrspwr. table saw from 1997 - (soon to be replaced by a Ridgid TS3650 in March or April this year)
Ryobi Compound Miter Saw
PTL-Pro table top Midi Lathe with 36" expansion bed
Makita palm sander 1/4 sheet
Delta 12" thickness planer (Bench top model)
Craftsman 4 1/4" bench top joiner (soon to be replaced by the Ridgid 6.5" joiner)
Ryobi 2 hrspwr. Plunge Router that is mounted on my home made router table with a melomine slick table top and fence.
Porter-Cable 1hrspwr Router 690-LR 11 amp.
Grizzly 10"- 5 speed Drill Press
Craftsman Shop Vac
Full set of hand chisels/screwdrivers/etc...etc..etc..
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Things I really want to add to the shop include a 2nd router for freehand routing off the table, D/C system, small air compressor and set of basic air tools.

I enjoy making small outdoor items such as birdhouses, patio furniture and such. Also I am trying to learn and just begining to experiment with making nice quality furniture for the house. So far I have only made a couple of lamps using the lathe and a few bookshelf units. I really want to start trying my hand with end tables, beds and things of that nature. I will need the experience, advise and expertise of you guys that are well seasoned wood workers!

I look forward to meeting a lot of you Lumberjock members.
