...does that make me a sick man? :) When I hit 1500 grit, the question hit me: “You DO realize you are working on a 2X4….right? ” LOL. Heres the funny part: The wood actually has some figure! I would have never, in a million years, expected to see birds-eye in a 2X4….but it’s there! The last foot or so of the stud had this birdseye…well, not really “birdseye”, but thats the closest I can describe it. I only wish I could have seen it before finishing, I would have used the wood a little differently.
After the complete and utter hell of two weeks of trying to steam-bend this thing, it is really great to have something positive happen for a change :)....and I’m actually starting to believe I might actually get this thing done in time!
How’s everybody elses projects coming?

Yeah, I find great irony in that my first fine woodworking project of the year involves nothing but a 2×4.

Oh…there will be pictures all right….but not until I go to 2000, then pumice, then rottenstone :)
1500 is only half way there!
I’m hoping to have the completed project up by the end of the week…..man I’m gonna be busy! I have a truckload if cherry being delivered tomorrow (fingers crossed), and have to have a glass front cabinet built, finished, and ready to go for the 4th so it can be photographed for promo material for the Canadian Home Workshop show at the end of Feb. Nothing like a tight timeline to get your pulse up :)

I have also seen a few 2X4’s with bisdseye and it does look very much like the maple. Look forward to some pics.

I saw a piece of SYP yesterday in the borg that was damn near quilted. Wanted to buy it for no other reason than it was so unusual. I understand completely!
