I have a rather small shop. 12’ X 20’. It currently contains so many tools there’s not much room left to work. I think I need a bigger shop.

Here are some updated shots of the inside of my studio with some notes:

First pic: I keep the lathe and milling machine hanging on the wood rack when not in use.

Second pic: The screw jar rack folds flat against the wall and swings out for access. I guess I should post this as a project. It may be useful for somebody else. This shop was originally set up as a stone carving studio. The air, water & power (all power in the studio is GFI) coming from the 10’ ceiling is positioned to be over where the carving station was. it’s still useful for woodwork. Note the educational system ;).

Third pic: This one shows the long lumber wood rack and jointer/plainer. The box that the nail guns are in needs to be replaced by a more efficient bench/storage system.

Fourth pic: Note the plainer hanging from the ceiling. I bounced my weight from the pulley, but it still makes me nervous. I would like to make a swing-under bench and put it where the nail gun box is.

Fifth pic: The 5HP compressor is in the basement. The wall switch gives me a remote control for it.

Pic six: It’s nice having heat. The whole studio is built to normal house standards so it’s very easy to heat. I think I need to upgrade my high tech dust collector some day though.

I know all about having a small shop. My old one was very small.

That’s about the same size as mine. I’m still looking for ways to make better use of it. Welcome to LJs!

Your have a nice shop. Your shop is about the same size as mine. The planer would make me nervous as well. But it looks like you have the tools and shop space to get the job done.

Thanks for the post.

Nice to see someone else is geting by with a portable saw. I would love to have as much space as you, but then I would have to get a real job.
