Me and My big Mouth #1: Me and my big mouth again

no previous part Part 1 of Me and My big Mouth series no next part

Well, I opened my big mouth again. My wife and I were talking about our spare room, that her 27 year old son finally moved out of, and how we wanted to redo it. The first thing that we are going to do, besides clean, is we are going to put our new computer that was given to me, in the room. She wanted to buy a desk and once again I opened my mouth nad said I could build one. I don’t have a clue as to how to design one that would suit our needs. But since I opened my mouth, I am going to build it. I guess I will never learn. One good thing, I guess, is that I do have a piece of Veneered black walnut that I got from my father a few years ago. It is 30 inches by 6ft long I believe. I do have some ideas. I will need to start deisgning I guess.

Desks aren’t as hard as you want to think they are, and as pointed out, I think you secretly want to look forward to doing the desk yourself as well. Are home made desks cheaper than store bought ones? Heck no! Not always, but the joy you get from spending twice as much time as the store bought desk was worth, is worth it, when you sit down to that desk each and every time.

You are right I am looking forward to doing this project. After stewing on it for awhile I am kinda leaning towards a 2 case set up for the desk. Meaning that I am thinking of 2 cabinets for drawers and shelves. I am planning on building it with Birch ply and poplar
