Hi, all!

In response to Joey’s 25th anniversary post, I thought I’d take the lead and do some boasting of my own.

Thursday morning, the family will be flying out of LAX to Indiana to watch our son graduate from Purdue. After losing one son due to medical problems at 26 years four years ago, this is a very important occasion for us.

I’ll be checking in occasionally on his laptop but until our return, my wish is for every person here to have his or her particular guiding light shining upon you and your family keeping you safe, healthy and happy.

After spending a few weeks here, I have to admit I don’t quite get it. This is supposed to be a woodworking forum where people exchange ideas, information and knowledge, right?

I posted a question regarding cabinet hinge placement: 114 reads and two responses that basically answered nothing. Someone else posted the question as to what we have for breakfast: 1675 reads and 164 responses.

Lots of people post pictures of their projects and lots of other people comment as to how well they were done. Lots of others seem to like visiting. Is that about it?

Cabinet hinge placement

Here’s a question for the experts from a weekend warrior:

When I place the hinges on a cabinet door, I put them where they look good to me. As an example, on a 31” tall door by 20 1/2” wide, the top hinge ended up 4 1/4” from the top of the door to the center of the hinge. The bottom one was 5 1/2” from the bottom of the door to the center.

To me, it looks balanced but I started wondering if there’s a formula for proper hinge placement.

Any ideas?
