• In the forefront are two old pieces of wood that I found next to a creek, they may be old bridge boards as they had several 20 penny nails in them, are almost 3 inches thick, almost 12 inches wide and almost 10 feet long. I haven’t determined the type of wood yet as they are almost 100 pounds each, extremely heavy..
• Back left to right are three pieces of Osage orange, the first was an old fence post and the next two are split pieces of trunk, all three from the side of an old farm road.
Now to determine their outcome…..

Those decking boards look pretty much weathered to the hilt. I like those for making rustic frames. The original builders usually used oak for bridge decking. Be nice to see what you do with the lot.

....I see you also are a far ranging wayfaring soul on a waundering walk-about….I mean Geoffrey de Vinsauf, awesome! Oh the writers of poetry and such that this one has inspired….brings back memory’s for me. And now he has inspired you with this beaut-i-full piece of ‘wood art’ yet to come….
The 3’‘x12’‘x10’ boards or slabs are definably in the character of how you like to work wood. I was thinking that maybe some of the weight is coming from the water of that creek….? And then there’s the Osage orange, I’ve never used this wood before, but have seen it’s use in many fine pieces of furniture, along with the other fine species of wood down your way….juniper wood. Well just goes to show you we don’t have it all here in NH.
....just thinking now again about those ‘extremely heavy’ boards up here….I almost forgot about how everything in Texas is bigger and weighing more….LOL!
To end, I see where you were walking a farm road and so I’m looking with anticipation to the story that is yet going to be coming forth in what you build here and watch out for Geoffrey de Vinsauf, since hanging around the likes of such, will have you soon enough hearing the wood talking to you and telling you what it wants to be.
