Some Pictures to Satisfy Those Who Wanted Them...

Blog entry by RobH posted 422 days ago 208 reads 0 times favorited 10 comments Add to Favorites

I was back over at the house tonight to pick up a couple of things. I took some pictures of the shelves. They still have dust on them (I did not bother with cleaning them since the hardwood floors have not been sanded yet. These are not the final pictures. I will go take some more once the floors are done and shelves are cleaned off. Those I will put in here as a project. Enjoy these.

Rob,
A very good looking set of book shelves. After all the trouble you had they came out really nice.

I forgot to mention. The woman buying the house wants more shelves (and needs them). So, before too long I guess I will get an additional order for eight more shelves. That will be an easy little profit.

Red Ok right? You did a wonderful job on them. How did you do the peg holes? I am building a set in the near future any suggestions to have them turn out as nice as those?

Yep, red oak with Minwax Golden Oak stain and a good coating of Olympic Satin polyurethane.

Sandhill, I will be glad to show you the system I use. How about I set it up as a demo and post it for everyone to see. Give me a couple of days. I will need to get out in the shop with the camera. It is a really simple system with a couple pains in the rear that I have not worked out. Maybe a few ideas can get bounced around here to help me figure it out.

I like how the cap on your crown helps hide the splice. Good work.

After all the angst I thought they might look nasty. These would make anyone quite proud to build or own. They came out really well, Rob.

Those came out great! I’ve done a couple of bookshelves and would be happy to never do another set. They always end up being trouble.
