I am an amateur woodworker who hasn't made anything since my high school days, when I had access to the school shop with anything I could ever need. Now I have just recently bought a home, I am considering turning half into a workshop, starting with 0 tools but looking to get a Delta Contractor saw first. I'm lucky my girlfriend let me run with this since she can't tell the difference between PLam and veneer. To my wallet's delight she also likes the look of pine more than mahogany/walnut/oak. Looking forward to getting my shop set up. Anybody know a good place to buy hardwood retail quantity in Vancouver/Surrey area?

Welcome to LumberJocks. Glad to have you aboard.
I’m guessing that you know the difference between PINE and walnut, oak etc. and before long you will want to try some different materials. At that point in time she may change her mind and then you will be into the slippery slope of fine and exotic woods.
