Yesterday after work I came home and got my daughter and we went for a walk. When we came home my lovely wife was home. she was siting in the kitchen crying. When I asked her why she said that she had dented her car. At first I got a little upset but then said it was not the end of the world. Now the tears were really flowing….
“honey are you OK , Are you hurt”
She just pointed to the garage still crying. A bad feeling came over me as I handed my little girl to her.
As I got to the garage, I saw that her car hit my TS and yes it did dent her car but my saw did not go undamaged.
I did not go back into the house. I moved her car. Pulled up chair and sat out in that garage all night thinking about what I was going to do.
P.S. Is it OK to Cry?

When life gives you lemons, make lemonade. Make it a good time to upgrade your table saw. If you are really an adventurous sort, you could file an insurance claim and get them to pay for it.

Ouch. Cars are a dime a dozen, but tablesaws are, like, really important. How ‘bout lumber? Any injured? Glad the wife is okay and like Charlie says, not a bad opportunity to get a new saw.

Too bad this is not an April fools post. Take your wife out for supper and talk about the new future TS.

Sounds like you might be able to make it better, if you only had a sererate shop so your stuff would not be i the way when she is trying to park??
Just a thought

Was the SawStop the saw that got hit, or is it the replacement?

Thats a bummer….and it hurts even more when it’s a brand new item. Mario is right though…relationships are more important than tools. But that being said I am really obsessive and careful with all my possessions so I’m not sure how i would have reacted. Brand new Sawstop smashed by wifes car…I would say it’s OK to cry! How bad did the saw get damaged?..is it ruined?

As much as you feel like your “best friend TS” was hurt in an accident———it could have been one of the other truly important people in your life – hopefully that puts your “loss” into perspective!
Saws are always replaceable, cars can be repaired, but the loss of one minute of happiness with your loved ones over this would be a waste of valuable time. KEEP it in perspective.
Go buy a new tool and consider it part of the grieving process!

You might want to contact your grief counselors, Tom and Robin, and see if they can help console you.

I totally agree with Ad Marketing Guy-Bill. I also think CharlieM1958 is right in saying that it should be covered by your insurance. My daughter drove thru the garage door once and it was covered. Then you wonder why I have gray hair!
God Bless
