An exciting day it was, yesterday, around here!
Our electrician came and installed the 220 outlet for the bandsaw. Oh yah.. and he put in three new lights (one above the sander. That’s much better!!).
Rick of course had to check then bandsaw out and went whizzing through some old wood just to check it out. I think he had a Martin smile—ear to ear!!
(And as I write this I just remembered that we cleaned up a piece of wood that I have been saving – a Wood Spirit that I found back when I first started looking. Thanks Frank. I’ll have to scoot downstairs and clean it up so that I can show everyone. She will hopefully look good enough to don our walls somewhere. If not she will remain by my workbench watching over my work.)
We also put the new dust collector/filter thingy together last night. Don’t you just love following plans that don’t really say what you have to do?? !! Of course, my brain is still not in sync with my intelligence (hahaha) and I couldn’t read the directions correctly anyway. Rick just laughed at me. He’s such a sweetheart :)
We don’t have any adapters to fit the big huge tube to the machinery so Rick played vacuum cleaner to check it out and made sure it was working correctly. Yup, it sucked that pencil up really well and when he turned to say something to me a chunk of styrofoam went up the tube as well. Oh joys. But we saved the pencil and styrofoam and all is well. Hopefully this weekend we will get what we need to get everything working properly.
Tomorrow we head to the biggest woodshow in our area. Oh yah. Going to buy a “l’il ripper”. Yup uh huh .. uh huh. And then Saturday we are heading back to Busy Bee to buy me one of those alien air filter face mask battery pack thingies—and look at Triton routers if they have one in stock.
So our shop is getting closer. The lathe decision hasn’t been made yet. Rick is going to take a course in May so we will probably wait until then.
Curling season is over for Rick’s team and so we start having weekends available and hopefully will start making more things with all of the tools. Nothing fancy, just lots of boxes. Big boxes, little boxes; inside boxes; outside boxes.
I have plans. Lots and lots of plans.

Hi Debbie;
—-and even after skooooooooting downstairs to clean her up, be sure and ask if she wants some clean up…...maybe she’s having the time of her life wearing those other character rags; no designer hip-hops for me….I want character I heard her say!
I can see her now, watching and breathing with inspiration as you work….that ‘wood spirit’ is giving your imagination a boost in all-dimensions of color. As I am fond of saying; I only sculpture out, what is all-ready written within….
GODSPEED,
Frank

and after all that time—I had forgotten about her again.
She just needs to have her face washed. She looks like she has been working in the shop for a month!!
Other than that, she will be her natural, beautiful self!!
Perhaps tomorrow she will come upstairs.

ah… no pix yet. The Wood Spirit says that she doesn’t have her space presentable enough, yet. :)

I’ve missed the discussions on the bandsaw. What kind did you hook up? Your resawing jig looks pretty cool. You will have to give us the low down after you have tried it out.

Bandsaw: Craftex 24 (that’s a PDF file .. but it will tell you what we have more than I can tell you!! .. It cuts wood! hahaha)
We are looking forward to the L’il Ripper. We have a stack of firewood out back from oh about 15 years ago. We only use a few pieces a year in our outdoor fire pit. We will be able to slice off some pieces for me to make boxes out of!! Lots and lots of boxes.
And now to learn how to chip carve so I can “label” them all :)

Shop isn’t presentable enough? Have you seen the rest of (I mean, most of) our shops. presentable? Nay. Great shops? Aye!
Two posts today without pix…. just not right! Shall I describe the wood I bought today at the lumberyard? ;)
quick, go make with the click click! Needs to see a pic!

I can’t see straight.. I’m tooooo tired….... my eyes can’t focus enough to see if the camera focuses.
My humblest apologies… I guess I owe you an extra picture.
