Save The Children #1: The Skateboard

Looks a whole lot nicer (& Safer) that the steel wheeled version I had in my youth…(back in the 60’s)!

I painted Alfred E Newman on mine…From Mad Magazine fame….What me worry?

After playing chin music with the asphalt a couple of times, I learned how to ride. Showed my son a trick or two. The new ones are much easier to ride.

yeah, those old sims boards like the brad bowman and the dave andrecht. would be nice to ride that again one day. hmmmmm… gives me an idea for my next roarockit build.

so here’s where the board stands …. it’s standing in the corner of my dining room, looking the same as it did when I first posted this blog. argh.

my roadblocks:
I want to put the EA Games Logo on the skateboard and since Joey wants the logo with the black circle around it on his board, I didn’t want to just paint it with black paint.

So… David suggests the waterslide paper. Perfect!! And, if I wanted to pay the $30 shipping to Canada fee that would be my plan but I’m not that financially-gifted so that’s out. (And that all took a week because my first order didn’t make it to the company and it took me a week to track that issue down.)

Backup plan #2
Use Omin-gel to create a decal. Only source located an hour’s drive away. I wait for a time when I’m already going in that direction. Another week delay.

I get the gel; try it out; and it’s ok but it says that the inkjet printers do not provide the best images. Delay.

Backup plan #3
Take the file to a printing place and have them print it out with a colour printer. I also have a coloured image that I want to use for the STC skateboard.
They hit “print” and they get an error and they can’t print a colour image.

Backup plan #4
Just give me a black/white image.

Backup plan#5
while I’m at the store I find window decal paper/plastic that you can print on. Hmm I wonder if this would work? I glue it to the skateboard with a clear glue (the Omni-gel says it can be used as a glue as well) and then put a coat or two or three of poly over top. Hmm maybe! I buy the package.

I put the paper into the printer and hit print—- ah.. no “yellow” ink so the black printing won’t work either. I now have to wait until I go back to town again to buy some ink.

In the meantime I use the Omni-gel on the black print copy. It’s in the drying stage. We’ll see how that turns out.

Time is ticking by. I still have to send the skateboard to BC and have Joey do the “silent auction” process. How many days do I have left???
