Opportunity #3: Reclaimed Wood

Let’s just ponder what to do with this new gift….

That’s the good thing about having a ”stash” as my wife puts it, talking about her quilting fabrics that we’ve been collecting for several years now.

and nothing it tossed away…

I’m guessing in the dark that it’s oak! What to do with it? What do you need?

Maybe a planter bench for the patio? That piece would cover the bench seat. Another idea is a hall or sofa table. That would make a nice top as a start.

re: pix, we just stored the wood away in a dark shed so the pictures, I don’t think, will be worth showing.

I’d love it to go in the house but there’s not really a good place for it… well.. actually…... EXCEPT … ah!! :)

Congrats on the lucky score, Debbie. It’s not often you find these for free. I have seen them in antique and salvage stores for large prices. Some were in pretty poor shape too.

I’ve been checking Craigslist a lot lately, Seems like there is a junked piano to be had every week or so. If thought I could elicit the aid of my LJ buddy Jeffrey, or my stepson, and it didn’t look too heavy, those ivory scales and bits of ebony look mighty appealing. Probably won’t though considering logistics and the already dire mess of my shop.

I’ve been thinking the same thing Doug. Some of the older ones especially. There are usually 2 to 3 a week that I could get if I only had a truck…........I think I’ll go whisper in Suzanne’s ear while shes sleeping…...Bob needs a truck, Bob needs a truck, Bob needs a truck…..Oh…and a new tablesaw too…..:)

I’ll take that as a pass on the clutter demerits toward the next shop visits.

Now we just have to develop the CyberLumberJockShare software whereby Bob, Dorje, Douglas, Jeffrey and maybe Obi run around the country in a truck turning pianos into inlay and lumber, and return to our respective homes before dawn, leaving no trace that might upset any domestic applecarts. What a great buddy movie that would make! Sort of a cross between Sanford and Son and The Matrix.
