Rick and i already have 3 sheds on the property (holding gardening tools, lawnmowers, snowblower, bikes etc). Life is good.
But now we have a new need. My daughter has been living here while her husband lives 3 hours away due to his job. This contract has come to an end and now, while he looks for a new job and the do a house search, they will be living here and that means added storage needs.
Originally they had talked about renting a storage unit, which would probably cost them $1500 for a year. I suggested that, for half that cost, they buy the lumber for a shed, and when they are no longer in need of the storage we still have something out of the investment.
And so the journey begins. We have 3 weekends to build the shed and prepare it for the move.
Step 1: the plans.
We already have plans for a 8×12 shed that we built a year ago and so we are going to build it again, but without following the plans that are filled with mistakes and headaches.
This shed will sit 12’ long rather than wide and will sit beside a little 3-sided shed we built for the snowblower. We will then (or rather I should say “the plan is to”) connect the two with a single roof. The roof on the new shed should provide a carport of sorts to protect one of the vehicles during the winter storms. (I think I should get a bidding system running for that!!!)
