Thank you all for the comments. I never really thought about humidity levels…Now I will. I got a Grizzly catalog in the mail last night and was drooling over the 8” Jointers. I have a HF jointer that my wife bought for me.
I never made it out to the shop last night as I ended up tripple booking myself. I had two things going on at church and a concert at the school. Life sometimes interupts my woodworking interuption of life.
it seems like work interupts more than ever. I sit at work thinking about what I can doo in the shop and with the kids ( and checking WW forums and sites) I work in IT so sit at tth PC watching firewalls, servers etc.. Patch this update that… oh for a simpler time.
I spoke with a friend about fire extinguishers (he is a local fire chief) I no have that plan set out and only need about $200 to get what I need.. I guess that is a small price when you look at the cost of equiptment. Or worse. Do you have adequite fire extinguishers in your shop?
Well back to work virus alert. Don’t you wish people had better things to do with thier time!!!

Nice to hear the shop is progressing. I would love to have a shop that big. Then again, in California I do not have to worry so much about heating it, at least not like you would.

The job pays for the “Big Boys Toys” – I gave up my job, after I bought all my Toys. But now I want more toys!
Got the Fire extinguishers, Got the First aid Kit, got the smoke alarms – I just cannot afford to keep replacing the batteries in the Dam Fire alarms, which keep going OFF.
My ceiling is only 2.2 m (7’ 3”) high and I was instructed to place one of the alarms directly over the Table saw. So mix fine dust, hot air from a wood burner and the occasional bit of smoke from a stubborn piece of oak – the batteries soon get depleted – luckily I have a compressed air gun next to the Table saw, which quickly blows the offending heat and dust out of the alarm.
What is really crazy, my workshop is 50m from the house and 500m from the next neighbour. With the shop doors closed (heavily insulated 150mm 6”) you cannot hear the alarm going OFF, even if you are standing outside the shop!! -where is the logic?
