I have often thought and heard that maple, cherry, hickory, ash, beech Southern Yellow Pine, poplar and other domestic woods are in the area around Pennsylvania that there much be stores and woodlots selling those fine woods …Then more south is that wonderful cypress wood with its amazing weather resistant qualities …
There must be something on the internet about woods in and near Philly.

I don’t know were in Phila you live, but I use to live in Lansdale Pa. I found Mike Peters to be a very nice and easy guy to deal with. He does his own klin dry. He has a small set up but great lumber. I moved away in 2003 so don’t know for sure if he still there. But well worth a phone call to see.

I don’t know what your limit to “Near” is but if you are willing to travel west to around Haregstown MD. There is a lumber yard run by some plain folks in Hicksville (actual place). The prices can’t be beat.
