Our Shop #1: Basic Layout

Great shop, Lee. Is it possible to have a shop that is large enough? I just keep stuffing more things into mine. It’s a great layout!

Can you imagine that, no client’s. My wife would have me working double shifts to complete her furniture projects.

And then, she would complain about the price!

I am only kidding. I am blessed with a great wife. She has come to realize I’ll do when the “spirit moves me”.

Hi Dan,

My buddy Bruce and I make a complete person. We are almost exact opposites. Our strengths compliment each other quite well.

Except, he keeps messing up my shop! I’m neat and organized. He’s not and not!

When we first met on one of my renovation projects, we couldn’t stand each other. Then someone mentioned fishing. We’ve been friends for 25 years now.

But he has many, many talents, and somewhere deeeeep down inside is a very good man. He is also a genius, which comes in handy too.

Your shop looks so organized, well lit, and efficiently arranged. It doesn’t surprise me that someone who has a penchant for those qualities would also produce beautiful projects.

Hi Karson,

We find the layout works well for most projects.

We also manufacture the ezee-feed units in there. Today I was out there welding up about twenty units, while Bruce was cleaning up welds and making up brackets, etc…

I’m looking forward to the factory we have lined up to take over the manufacturing process. Welding in a woodshop is a little nuts, but I have no alternative that’s as convenient. It’s getting to the point we can’t keep up with it.

Sometimes there are two guys in there, sometimes three, sometimes just one. Depends on what’s going on. Bruce works there alone fairly often, and I’m in there alot at night “playing”.

My buddy Bruce is quite talented, and I’ve learned alot from him. Sometimes I think he should be writting this stuff.

Funny thing is he loves to talk. I don’t like talking. I like to write, he hates to.

Complete opposites in many ways.
