I reviewed Hendrik’s DVD (Jointer and Planer Secrets) a while ago and was very pleased with it. When Hendrik came out with a new DVD on Table Saws, I was very interested in getting. Just love Rob's DVDs
I watch a lot woodworking DVDs and Rob Cosman’s are some of my favorites. If you are just starting out with your dovetail education, I recommend that you start with this DVD first. Not impressed with this vise
I have bought several products from Lee Valley/Veritras, and I have been very happy with them. So, I expected a lot from them, when I bought this vise. For what I paid for this bench vise, I’m not that impressed. I took the picture for this review showing how the handles can get out of alignment. A nice bandsaw
Grizzly calls this the “Ultimate” bandsaw. That’s a bold statement to live up to. I own many Grizzly tools and I’m very happy with all of them. Very Nice Dovetail Saw
I love the feel of this saw. The grip is comfortable in my large hand. The saw has a nice “heavy” feel to it. The saw cuts straight and true. It has a rip tooth configuration, with a narrow set. The narrow set helps the saw cut straight, once your cut is started. Once I figured out how to start my cuts, with a light touch push stroke, cutting became very easy. One Great Marking Gauge
It cost a little more than most marking gauges, but I love this guy. It’s incredibly easy to adjust, with only one hand. It’s amazing smooth when adjusting. The one I have is 7” long. It came with: the standard marking blade, 2 adjustable tenon blades, and 1 large cutting blade. You can buy this guage at several different sites. Average Marking Gauge
I bought this marking gauge, because I thought it was better deal than the Tite-Mark. I was really disappointed with the the Micro-Adjustment on the Veritas. It requires you to use both hands to adjust the gauge. The instructions even tell you that you have to use both hands. Once adjusted the gauge works well and is accurate. If you want to buy Veritas, I suggest buying their standard marking gauge and save a few more bucks.
Great DVD on the Jointer and Planer
I heard about this DVD over at Matt's Basement Workshop. I hadn’t hear of Hendrik Varju before that, but I’m glad I know about him now. His DVD on the power Jointer and Planer is one the best woodworking DVDs I’ve watched. It covers all of the techniques you need, to get the most out of your Jointer and Planer.
