Steve's Workshop

My shop is our two car garage, 24’x22’. My wife loves me enough to give me the whole thing for a shop. The only stipulation is that I save a small corner for the yard tools. I have been in the process of turning it from a open frame interior to a finished interior for some time but it takes a back seat to the “honey-do” list. I have run my electrical wiring already and I am waiting for an electrician to wire the subpanel. I have two dedicated light circuits, 4 – 110V circuits and 2 – 220V circuits. I even put 2 outlets of each voltage in the ceiling just in case. I have about half of the insulation in place and a third of the wallboard. I decided to go with OSB for the interior walls instead of sheetrock because I liked the idea of being able to put a screw or nail wherever I want. I have french cleats along one wall already and I plan to have it run on 3 walls. As far as tools go, I have a cheap Craftsman tablesaw which I hope to upgrade to a cabinet saw by the end of the year. I have a Jet floor standing drill press, joiner and dust collector. I’m not necessarily a jet fan but I got the drill press from a guy getting out of the pen making business for about $150 and the other two I got a good deal on at The Woodworking Show. I have a Grizzly G0555 band saw, a Makita lunchbox planer, Dewalt 10” miiter saw, a Craftsman radial arm saw and a Jet lathe that I have yet to use. I am still very much a novice to woodworking so I haven’t completed many projects. Last Christmas I made 14 recipe boxes out of various woods like maple, walnut, cherry and pine. Last month I finished a wine bottle box (from Wood magazine) for my aunt. Right now my unfinished projects are a tabletop curio (also from Wood magazine) made out of white oak and a hall table that I am designing myself in walnut.
