LumberJocks

Looking for Jock input.

Blog entry by Karson posted 208 days ago 549 reads 1 time favorited 68 comments Add to Favorites

In Martins last change to the Lumberjock pages he changed the “Jock” button to “Members”.

Wait a minute this is not Lumbermembers it’s LumberJocks. I vote for putting the Jock name back on the button.

I don’t know of any Jock or Jockette who has complained about that name.

This message is all in good fun, but, I like to be known as Jock.

I mean my home page is http://lumberjocks.com/jocks/Karson

What do you think?

I would agree with Karson—-I want to be known as a jock as well. We are part of a unique community.

I hadn’t actually noticed till you mentioned it but I hear your rallying cry.
Karson you have my vote.
We want to be Jocks not just members.
Every site has members
We have a pretty unique group of guys a gals here
and I agree we deserve our JOCKS status.

PS: the fact that Karson sent me some real nice pen blanks in the trade
did not sway my opinion in any way. ;-)

Martin …How could you do such a thing? After coming up with a cool site name like LumberJocks? I am shocked and bewildered. I think I may have an identy crisis…Am I a Jock or a Member? I guess that would depend upon who you asked at the time.

PS …Frank, I believe you ;-)

I would prefer Jock myself Karson.

I have a shirt that I bought from the one and only Martin that tells me I am a LumberJock.

After I spent good monies to get my nice bright yellow shirt…Is he going to change my shirt out to LumberMember?? I bet he won’t. Nor would I want him to…..

Once a LumberJock…..always a LumberJock I say! Here, here!!!!

I think LumberJock is gender neutral.

I recently read an article about females being referenced as “guys” One woman complained that she wasn’t a guy but (it might have been Ann Landers) did a survey and found that amongst themselves women often say: “Hey, guys. Let’s go here” or whatever. Ann Landers puts the gender neutral class to guys so I think we can be assured that Lumberjocks is gender neutral.

Ya gotta remember that Martin doesn’t live here in the States so might be a little late in the nuances.

nope doesn’t work that way…

Some of us might have been jocks in high school, but we’re all Jocks now!

(Lee’s right about the gender neutrality as well) any group of people is guys, whether there’s a guy in the group or not.) Haven’t the Oscars long since changed from Actor and Actress to just Actor

As I jockey into position to to make my thoughts known, (I’m only horsing around, you know) not being a young thoroughbred any more, I guess I’m really only lumbering along, I have to look at “membership” vs “jockship” and see just how that fits into the equation…just what the odds are…before making my bet on which will survive.
But if I had my druthers, (how many of you remember where that word came from?) I’d be a jock, too. -SST

when I went to my 35 year class reunion, one of my old class mates was the principle of a local high school.
As part of my introduction to old high school class I sent them all of the them (about 40 are still alive) a email with a link to my lumberjocks web page. He said at our dinner meeting that lumberjocks.com got blocked by the highschool firewall as a potential porn site. Guess lumber and jock may suggest some questionable conotation in some circles …
