Mid-America LumberJock Picnic #1: A get together

thanks for the post, Karson. For those that attend this could prove to be a costly trip- balancing a picnic with a shopping trip for the wives. If they are anything like my wife any mention of a shopping spree brings the joy of credit cards dancing in her eyes. But I guess it is an even trade provided of course that a side trip to Woodcraft or Rockler’s is on the agenda as well.

Depending on the date, I would be interested in attending the picnic.

Eric, it looks like you have a nice shop and a great tool collection.

Sadly, the Rockler in KC is an “Independent Rockler Reseller” that is only open Mon – Fri 8-5 and Sat 8 – 12. The Woodcraft store has much better weekend hours.

I live in Ohio, but always need a good excuse to drive to KC.

My, sister, dad, daughter and two grandkids live there.

I lived there in 1973.

When the date is set, be sure and let me know. I’ll do my best to be there … depending on my day-job

and scheduling vacation coverage etc.

I or we (wife) would be interested in coming. We live at Lake Ozarks and depending on the date or how busy we are we would love to come. My wife is handicapped and in a wheelchair or scooter so we would want a little more information on what to expect when we get there.

OK I’m pretty sure I can make it, no major commitments at this time. Our oldest son is being shipped out to South Korea this spring, we have toyed with the idea of a trip there but would probably be late in the year or may be next year.

I’m in the Leavenworth area and think it would be a blast to attend, date set being all important (I work
odd days) and travel occasionally in the spring and summer.

P.S. My wife goes shopping in KC all the time, so think I won’t tell her about this (another excuse to spend my tool and lumber money) :)

A K.C. picnic sounds great. I’m in Omaha, NE but my family and my wife’s kid’s families live in the K.C. area so we are down there quite often.

Hey Rick, I’m in Omaha, too. I’m originally from Topeka, and my wife and I would meet halfway in St. Joseph, then head into KC when we were dating. I moved to Omaha to marry the love of my life.

Just received an invite. I am in Warrensburg. About 50 minutes away. I/we are very interested. Count me in. Also, with a 60×40 shop and many acres, I could also host. Great place for a picnic, and beautiful. Thank you for including me.

thanks for organizing things for us Karson. I will be there, Lord willing, as Brad indicated.

This St. Louis connection sounds good. I think moving it from my house to KC will help a lot more people see the opportunity to connect and attend. We will miss the chance to bring folks here to the house, but at least I won’t have to mow and clean up so much this time.

I am looking forward to getting together again.
