Karson, I want to be scared too. How much is that Micro-fence base and is it a plunge base?
I have the Stew-Mac on a Dremel tool. It’s pretty good, and I’m satisfied, but I do wish it was a plumger.

Karson, not only am I willing to pay money for an opportunity to own something both you and Dusty have worked on, but I’d be more than willing to throw a couple bucks in a pot to hear you sing.

Reading Dusty’s blog and now reading yours, I am waiting anxiously to see how things work out.

The cracking may not be fully a Fedex issue. I know that there are some extreme temperature changes inside cargo type airplanes that could account for some of the cracks. I pretty much avoid air shipment of anything that might be affected by temperature.

It isn’t just the broken glass, it is the timing of how he heard about it. He was on the way into the hospital to see his dad who had just fallen off the roof. It was a serious double smack for our friend.

Keep faith both of you. Good things will happen, sending things through the shipping systems of today will inevitably end up broken. I hope Dusty can fix the glass is is beautiful. Keep us informed also, I know you guys will find a solution.

You raised some excellent points that I hadn’t taken into consideration. Normaly I don’t ship air. I have to admit I have not had much problem in the past with shipping.

I guess it was simply my turn for some thing like this to happen.

Oh well; can’t cry over “broken glass”.

Like my dad used to say; “fix it move on ,them mosquitoes are so big that are coming in that broken window ,that they won’t bite us ,but rather pick us up and take us down to the river and give us a good whooping” now get on down to the hardware store and get a window”

He then would say, I can’t tell if all that wining is from the swarms of mosquitoes coming in the window your your mom nagging me to get you kids to do some work around this house”.

Pretty much says it all !

Of course I rolled my eyes ( not that he could see) and went and fixed the window I had broke out playing ball.

As I look bad at it now, he sure was a wise man.

You know working in the field I was in with women of all kinds I had to learn to do that, they got mad if when you left a meeting and said, see you “guys” later, wow they would go ballistic. Hey Dusty, things happen and we move on. You dad sounds similar to mine, he was a big believer in Labor Day. My last one living at home he decided to tear out a sidewalk in front of the house. Yep, it was Labor Day, my friends were at the lake, I was bustin’ concrete and my dad was celebratin’. I’m confident you’ll get things taken care of just fine.

So, Mike does this mean that there’s a duet with you and Karson coming in the future?

AHHHHHHH About all this singing…..

NOT ..... where can I line up to pay NOT to hear this….....

Trust me no one wants to me sing, and from what Karson says him either.

Can you say “tenor” ten or twenty miles away I might sound fine.

Other than that no singing.

I will stick to things like cutting glass, and woodworking and leave the professionals to do the singing.

Often we are handed setbacks in life.

How we handle them I feel is what defines us as a individuals.

One thing I can say is we never gave up.

Very shortly we hope to release the next blog on what is going on.

about 8 years ago I sold a big arts and crafts frame with a Parrish print on ebay. Something like 20×25 inches with glass over the print.

I packed it in a big square box, and drove it to the post office.

On the way to the post office, it blew out of the back of my pickup and landed in the street.

I stopped, shook the box, didn’t hear any breakage and continued on.

Got a positive feedback from the buyer.

After my first experience trust me I thought about hand delivering it myself.

However, this time I will build a frame and box so big and well protected that it might have to go via rail.

You know Dusty we could do something like the Olympic torch and deliver it through a chain of LumberJocks. I’d be willing to bet there’s a line of jocks between you and Karson so that each individual drive wouldn’t be excessive. Then there’d be a travelogue and pictures and the opportunity for a whole bunch of jocks to meet face to face. Who better to move a LumberJock memorial than a LumberJock?

After the drawing, I think we should look at all options for delivery. I think Russel had a great idea.

I can’t think of anything more fun and rewarding than a “lumberjocks memorial hand off”, visiting and meeting other lumberjocks alone the way.

Certainly, we could come up with creative ways to “coble” together a safe, fun, and adventurous way to deliver the memorial piece and frame.

I am open to any suggestions on this!

As a relative newby here I know very little of any of you or the man you are memorialising, but as a woodworker & a stained glass artist I can relate to the fright of entrusting your hard work to any shipping company. If this piece has to go anywhere near the Chicago, Il. area I’d be honored to assist in transporting it safely on it’s way.

Thank your for your kind and generous offer; depending on who wins the piece and where it ends up going this maybe one of our choices for delivery.

Russel brought this idea up a while back while he was commenting on one of the blog entry’s. It was agreed at the time that we would explore this creative idea later and after the winner was announced.

I was planing on writing a “warping up loose ends blog” which I had wanted to open this and other ideas up for discussion.
