I'm an accidental woodworker...
My main backround is actually sculpture, and art in many forms...I work mainly in Stone, Bronze and Wood, as well as oil painting, culinary arts...taxidermy...etc...etc... Almost anything I can get my hands on!
I love learning and creating new ideas...exploring new mediums...overcoming challenges.
The furniture was an accidental addition to my work...Some years ago I had logs shipped in for carving (yes, I did chainsaw sculpture as well), and some of the wood was just "too pretty" to carve...See, when there is much surface detail you tend to lose the grain...So the first piece of furniture was created, a simple burl slab table...the grain was fabulous, and I fell in love with the wood grain, the patterns, the burl. Since that first table, I have worked to show off the wood, to showcase it, to share it...
Most of my furniture is made with the "old growth" Redwood burl. Ancient wood, often dating back 1,500 years or more...It just amazes me when we cut into these logs, we are seeing something never seen before...The beauty of God's creation uncovered before our eyes. Some of this wood may have been growing at the time that Christ walked the earth!...I find it humbling and inspiring to work with such history.
My husband and I mill most of our wood ourselves, we have a mill to handle up to about 6 feet across...I enjoy the challenge of working in a large scale!
Training...none...I consider my abilities a God given gift...
Tools, not much, Chainsaw, circular saw, bandsaw...a few sanders, a hoist and a lot of ingenuity!
I'll probably add more to this at a later time, but that's just a little bit about me...Enjoy

I’d like to say welcome. Especially to a fellow sculptor. Your work is far beyond mine though. Well done!

Welcome to Lumberjocks. The projects are an inspiration, the information is priceless and the people are supportive. The only problem is, the site can get addictive.
God Bless
