LumberJocks

Lumberjocks.com is a beast that can't be fed!

Blog entry by JonH posted 566 days ago 257 reads 0 times favorited 13 comments Add to Favorites

I am rapidly becoming a lumberjocks.com junkie. I blame the wood whisperer for this. He and his educational, entertaining videos have me snooping all over his, Matt’s Basement, and this site for hours on end. If someone would have told me that there was a blog for woodworkers, I would have laughed, but now I am a believer. This is fun. I’m looking forward to getting my students to be “lumberjocks.”

Thanks Marc!

Time for one more comment before my wife tells me one more time to get off the computer! Thanks for mentioning me in your addiction.

As another Lumberjock addict, I can relate to what you are saying. I hope you get your students to sign up too.

you guys are “pushers” !! lol
getting young minds to be addicted. shame shame :)

What a gift this would be to a young adult – woodworking really opens the door to lifelong learning!

Pusher or Mentor…a fine line….hmmm..haha

Agreed Debbie, it is a gift that will always be giving for them. They can use the skills no matter where they are in life.

Also, I think it helps people cope with the high tech world. Get em in here. It is for their mental health. The other aspects of the addiction can be managed (constant desire for one more tool, day dreaming about cutting logs into boards, lack of space in the shop etc…)

Woodworking is the high you get after a day of being high at work.

I don’t regret the 8 – 5 days. But, I don’t want to do it again.

Give me the 8 – 5 in the workshop any day.

Lumberjocks are NOT made… they are born that way. You can’t get someone to be a Lumberjock, either they are or they aren’t.

And I’ll bet most of you hate me… I don’t have a job. I’m a Lumberjock. I work on whatever I want, when I want, and I blame lack of Culture and Wal-Mart for not being a very rich man.

I drive a used truck, I’m in a poverty category, but ooooh, I love my life. My wife is divorcing me and I don’t care, cause when my table saw caught fire, I saved it in time.

I wake up knowing that Jesus loves me, and I have sticks to cut in the shop. It don’t get no better than this.

I have a bunch of friends at Lumberjocks.com, peace of mind, and a Greene & Greene table on the board.

Man, (sighing) life is good ….

God must really, really , really like me…because this is Heaven on Earth. I can’t tell you what my next meal is, but I do know what kind of wood and how much of it I have in the shop.

I do know what projects I have on the board, and I even have a friend that i owe money to, that will go out of his way to keep me busy so I can pay him off. Even if he has to pay me to build a coffee cart for his church. He’ll pay for the wood, give me some spending cash, and donate the piece to the church in order to keep me busy.

Somebody convince me that it gets better than this

Working for a friend that gives me the Artistic freedom to build what I want any way I want to build it, building things for the House of God, and this is supposed to be work?

And Karson? Read Psalm 1. My delight is in the law of the Lord and in it do I meditate, day and night.
Everything I do…eth shall prosper…even if i don’t win a Powermatic Shop, or the G&G table challenge

Obi, you always bring a smile to my face when I read your comments. One of these days I’m going to make it down to your neck of the woods and just hang out with you for the day.

We love you man, now go and make some sawdust.
