One of a kind sculptural furniture

Blog entry by Jojo posted 255 days ago 411 reads 0 times favorited 15 comments Add to Favorites

Today I stumbled upon the page of a sculptor/craftsman/furniture maker from the Netherlands. He makes what he calls ’erotic furniture’. Whether you agree or not with his style I think the quality of his crafstmanship deserves that you take a look at it.

At least, you can’t say his work isn’t original! ;o)

Due to my present status of "shopless" woodworker you are not likely to see many -if any- projects here for the time being but, at least, I'll try to contribute giving you my views of the japanese side of woodworking through the old works you can find here all over the place.

I think that triangle table would go well in my dinning room. Might perplex my 3 year old a little though.

I guess it would perplex quite a lot of visitors if you had this in your dinning room! ;o)

Interestingly enough, longtime ago I designed a table along such general lines… minus the ‘organic’ parts, that is. Not yet built but I will some day.

I saw this somewhere a while back. He’s got some skill, no doubt about it. However, my wife would perform unspeakable tortures on me were I to do anything like his stuff. And, to be honest, I’m allergic to torture.

This is certainly different.

Gotta give the guy huge props for being original, and having some serious carving talent.
I can see something like this being shown in an upscale gallery in NY or LA and commanding
very large quantities of cash.

Thanks for the link.

I agree. Actually if you look at some of the pages you’ll see prices going into the tens of thousands of euros…

I’ve got this neighbor, he’s a 70y/o hippie…and one hell of a wood carver. He does full sized female nudes. You know those carvings showing the “wood spirit”? Yep…He’s found Aphroditie all right. Anyhow, he’s selling out in hopes of moving to Tennessee. Quite an interesting tour but the missus won’t allow me to buy. Bummer.

the four legs chair reminds me of the mannequin enemy in the silent hill 2 (video game) which, after a quick wiki search, mentions that the mannequin appears to be based on the works of hans bellmer…...which after another google search (hans bellmer dolls), are REALLY creepy.

however, all that aside….this stuff is interesting to say the least. also reminds me of the milk bar in a clockwork orange.

Wow, I know nothing about videogames but it is true that it conveys something of the Clockwork Orange bar… great eye macpiper

That’s some of the breast sculpting I’ve ever seen.
