Yep we had snow this weekend; and for all of you folks from real snow country ~ well it wasn’t a big deal but we don’t get much here. I’m origonally a New Englander but moved here so I could sell my snow blower and buy some woodworking tools. It’s good entertainment though, cars in the ditches, folks standing in the street on their cell phones calling for help. But today it’s all gone and the daffodils are visable again and I need to mow my lawn.

But it gave me some time to figure out this site a little bit and I thought I’d share some shop stuff with you. I made all of the baseboard in my house and the door and window trim too. It is all 1 X3 pine from the Depot. I had to search 3 different stores and several trips each to find stuff that wasn’t already pre-formed for a hot tub. Moulding the edge with the currer I had and liked required me to stand the stock on edge. Well; 10 and 12 foot stock doesn’r sit well on a router table so I made a horizontal router table for the job.

By using feather boards (not shown) I could get pretty nice cuts. The pivot bolt that you see the head of on the “business side of the table” is an elevator bolt set flush (or slightly recessed). The router cutter cuts the bottom edge so the stock is not trapped between the bit and table. If anything ~ the board will lift slightly and you’ll have to run it through again.

The table doesn’t cover the whole base because I made it from what I had around. So if you wonder what the space is for….. nothing. The oversize base frame though made it more stable and I can clamp it to the aux. table on my T saw.

So feel free to use the idea; I didn’t draw any plans but I’m sure you can figure it out. Just be sure to feed from the correct side of the table. Let’s see, the bit spins this way, I need to feed against the bit rotation …......

David,

The link works so I could see your setup. That is an innovative idea. I am planning to run some molding and may have to borrow some of your ideas.

Thanks for the post.

Pretty clever solution. It is probably safer for the operator this way, too.
