My 15 Minuts of Fame?

Blog entry by IowaWoodcrafter posted 127 days ago 255 reads 0 times favorited 8 comments Add to Favorites

iReports.com asked for entries into their “Man Cave” article. I uploaded a few pictures and then thought nothing about it. A couple weeks later I got an e-mail from CNN.com asking for permission to use the pictures on CNN.com. They also asked me to provide more information on my “Man Cave”. Here is the news article on CNN.com. I have pictures in both the Technology and Tools categories.

If interested here is my original iReport.com posting. Well, I’ve had my 15 minutes of fame, now, where’s my fortune. ;)

Don’t worry ladies, the house isn’t just about me. If you look at my projects you’ll see my wife has her own “woman cave”. She’s also getting the den, my old “man cave”, to turn into her own sanctuary, otherwise known as a “sitting room”.

fredf,

Only one dust collector. You are seeing the “before” and “after” versions of my frankenstein DC. The dust collector came with 30 micron bags. I ordered a 1 micron filter bag for the top from American Fabric Filter. It’s twice the height of the old one. The increase in size actually increases CFM while doing a much better job filtering out harmful particles. If I disconnect one of the hoses at the collector it sound like a jet engine. I replaced the bottom bag with a 6 mil plastic bag, also from American Fabric Filter. After all of the mods the top of the collector is only inches from the ceiling. Oh yeah, I also replaced the flimsy sheet metal base with one made from 3/4” mdf.

A horde of people just passed by asking how to get to your cave. So the word is definitely out.
