I learned today that it’s not always a good thing to keep checking on the status of a shipped package. Unlike UPS or Fed-Ex the USPS web site does not contain relevant data. When I called the post office they told me that the Delivered/Accepted status does not reflect the actual status of the package. In the case of my post office it just means that the package has reached the local distribution center.
The clock inserts did make it to the local post office today. When I called I was informed the package was there. I had them hold it at the location. At lunchtime today I went and picked it up.
Upon opening the package I thought the clock inserts seemed rather small. After placing one of the inserts over the carcass of one of the clocks I changed my mind. The clocks are going to be nicely proportioned. I hope the Johnson clan likes them. I’ll post one of the completed clocks soon.

The trials and tribulations of the Postal Service. There are times I’m amazed at how much they handle without issue, and then there are time when these things smack of organizational silliness. I too am looking forward to the final product.

I used to ship a lot stuff through USPS and their package “tracking” is a piece of junk! Anyone who pays for that service is getting ripped off.

someone was just telling me that someone did an experiment and sent 3 packages across the country: UPS, Purolator, and the Canadian Postal Service… all three packages arrived within 1/2 hour of each other, but the Canadian Postal Service cost was 1/2 the price.
And then there’s the story of my friend in Mass. USA (about 10 years ago) who sent a package to me (pretty much across the border, and a package to a friend in Sweden. The friend in Sweden received his package 2 weeks before I got mine.
