I'm a Certified Public Accountant specializing in setting up and administering Employee Stock Ownership Plans, or "ESOPs," which we prefer to link with "Justice-Based Management" or "JBM" so that workers have as many of the rights of private property as the law permits. I also do volunteer work for the interfaith Center for Economic and Social Justice, www.cesj.org, which promotes stuff to complicated to explain here, so you'll just have to visit the web site. I sing in my church choir, and also in the Washington Men's Camerata, the premier all-male amateur choral group in the metropolitan Washington, DC, area (are there enough adjectives in there?). I design and build my own furniture because 1) I'm too thrifty (i.e., cheap) to buy overpriced undermade commercial products, and 2) being "large economy sized" most commercial stuff just doesn't fit me or give me the security I like. Besides, by doing it myself, it's easier to convince myself that I have exactly what I want. I've written and published a western novel under a pen name that's sold almost a dozen copies, and had a hand in some non-fiction books that have sold a couple of thousand copies, so maybe it's better to tell the truth than make up stories. That's about all for now.

The friendliness and willingness of the members to help newbies and not-so-newbies with questions, etc., was one of the things that finally convinced me to join. There appears to be a basic orientation that puts the best interpretation on what someone says, rather than take it and assume the worst or nastiest … which is why I’ve dropped out of (non-lumberjocks) forums (fora? fori? Sorry, Professor H., I don’t remember my Latin very well) before, that I was sorry I joined. I saw NONE of that here over the course of several months, not even between the Luddites and the Normites.
