I'm trying to spend more time building, and more specifically finishing. I did a few shop classes in junior high school and built a few things. My dad always built things around the house growing up and so I began to appreciate what he did. His patience and precision have always amazed me, and I hope I can share those qualities some day. The only power operated tool he really uses is a table saw.
The last few years have seen me build a lot of rough things - storage areas at work, a new garage for my dad, working on the basement at a friends house, fences, retaining walls, a nice cedar deck. I'd like to get back to projects with more finesse, with more detail, and that you can have more satisfaction in making. I foresee a lathe in my future as well.....
So I spent two months reading this site almost daily before signing up, slowly inspiring myself to start building again. It's provided a lot of knowledge and inspiration to get back into the shop. I've already got several ideas lined up, and am looking for help. I like to push my boundaries and try something new, so I'll be looking to you LumberJocks!
