BlueLinx or Austin Hardwoods in Dallas

Blog entry by GaryK posted 115 days ago 273 reads 0 times favorited 4 comments Add to Favorites

I think that it used to be called Austin hardwoods, but is now called Bluelinx.

Anyway, has anyone ever been there, or bought something from them?

Thanks

I bought some cypress from them recently to build a garden bench for my parents. Far west Dallas, just west ot Stemmons Freeway. I remember seeing both names on the outside of the building, but don’t remember which name was on the invoice. It’s a large warehouse, and they have most domestic and some exotic hardwoods, plus veneers. I went there on the way home (out of the way) from work, looking for some mesquite to match a project I came up short on. The selection of mesquite they had was poor, but came away with the cypress at a good price, so the trip was not wasted. Most species, theyn have 4/4, up to 12/4, and I poked around for 30 minutes or so and everbody was friendly and let me look in peace. It’s worth the side trip if you’re going to be in Dallas.

Bluelinx bought out a lot of small lumber yards a few years ago, including Austin Hardwoods. I talked to them last year or so. They want you to deal with their distributors. I called one that was in Smithville, I believe. They didn’t have what I needed and the prices seemed kind of high. I deal with Brazos Forest Products in Austin.

Hello Gary, There’s a place on line that I’ve dealt with, its called hardwoodlumberagent.com they have a wide variety of domestic, exotic, african, and such, They ship worldwide and what I believe very quite reasonable on their shipping charges.. I know that you was asking for a specific company. Sorry couldn’t help with that…...your brother in woodworking John
