Another 2x4 tease - with drawing!

Blog entry by GaryK posted 244 days ago 477 reads 0 times favorited 24 comments Add to Favorites

Since others are posting their own tease, I thought I would provide my own.

Here is the best piece 2×4 I could find. Southern yellow pine with only three small knots.
I ended up finding it at a local lumber supplier rather than a big box store.

Here is the drawing I worked up to make sure that I could do it all with one 2×4.
It actually looks like I will have some extra to work with.

Well, there are some censored parts. You didn’t expect me to give it away did you? :-)

I’ll just tell you that it will be interesting to say the least.

.
.

You will have to go to here to see the entire thing:

You’re a cruel man, Gary! :) Ok, you’ve got me baited with interest. Hmmm. . . This is one of the better contests I’ve seen. I’ve looked at this contest on a few other sites in the past and am always impressed with the range of creativity.

Gary, I’m afraid that you gave away too much information – I have figured out what you are shooting for and plan on telling everyone. Hey guys, Gary is going to be a Watchamacallit.

Bill – You got me!

Paul – A small mis-truth (I lied), but maybe not. I could have meant that I was done with the drawing.

Gary, I have no idea what you are doing, but based on what I’ve seen of your ingenuity on past projects, my money is definitely on you in this contest.

Gary -

Quite the teaser! No idea what you are going to build . . . I will say it looks interesting!

What are you going to do with all the “extra” material?! :-)

Looks like we should have a contest to see what can be made with contest cast-offs!

Nice looking two by, heck you could probably enter just it “as is” and it might place. Interesting plan, thanks for the peek.

It’s a whatsit but with hand cut joinery and the frazzle will be turned on the lathe. The diversion in the framis gave away your final project, Gary. It should be special though. I’m amazed you can get away with the twindle arm in that way. I wouldn’t have thought of it.

Tom – You have a way with words that makes me want to kaputilate.

Lee – Rob – I would were it not for those pesky knots.

What are you going to do with the knots?

You can’t let them go to waste.

That’s gonna be one sweet 8’ tooth pick. Hmm, or could it be a giants back scratcher?, no.no. I know Bet ya 5 bucks It’s a new yelloe pine stick rod fishin pole…. fhew got it! I knew those drwings looked farmilar. Yea my old pine stick rod fishin pole snapped from a jig fish on on old oak hill river. Maybe I’ll compete and see if I can make a wooden reel for it w moving parts, using my wood threader! Ha good luck. Gary K the drawings are interesting I like the censored stamps.

Sorry. He’s knot going to do anything with them.

Or maybe he’ll turn them into knobs.

Now I don’t know.

I’ve never seen a piece of pine in this country to equal that one Gary. Three knots? Mine has 57! It would be a pity to take a saw to yours!
