My current shop is a 16’ X 32’ freestanding building with 11’ interior from the floor to the bottom of the roof joists.
It’s a pole-barn style with rough sawn board and batten cypress siding.
Other than hiring out labor to sink the 6 main posts (rough sawn 6” X 6X 16’) and raise the top plates (rough sawn 3” X 10X 16’), I built everything else.
My brother-in-law helped me do the electrical work.

The green tarps have been replaced with double doors; one pair is done and pictured, and one pair is to be done but replaced with a much better temporary setup.
The exterior siding is 8’ tall with 3’ tall transome windows all around the shop.
They’re currently plexiglass, but will eventually be replaced with windows I’ll build.

I’m planning to expand the shop over the existing concrete pad, adding roughly 200 Sq. Ft. of useful space, and using the pairs of double doors on the new wall. Eventually, I’ll fully enclose the outdoor lumber storage that I’ve got behind the shop which is now under a 14’ X 10X 8’ shed roof structure attached to the back wall of the shop, seen here:
Current lumber storage

Here’s what I’ve got so far as seen from outside, then around the building from the inside:

Hey Darryl. Thanks. I see I didn’t have to email and let’ya know it posted it.
Can’t ever have too much lumber; especially with all the nice flavors available…

LOML is serving dinner; gotta run.
Cheers,
Gary

Nice shop, Gary, and whenever I see that much lumber in one place, my heart goes into palpitations.

I like all the natural light that you have entering your shop. Looks like you have a nice stash of wood there, too.

Great shop. I like how everything seems to have it’s place.

Gary,

You have a nice looking shop and some nice tools to play with. I really like your lumber storage and all the natural light that you have coming into the shop.

Thanks for the post.

Scott,
Thanks for looking. I’m most happy with the natural light. I’m very fortunate—we live in a rural environment wherein there’s mostly only natural noises and no `light pollution’ to disturb the starry skies.
I’m surrounded by giant live oaks, palms, sweet gums and maples. My nearest neighbors are cattle and horses.
I feel truly blessed.
Cheers,
Gary
