Wow. That will get you an adrenaline rush. I am just glad that only the saw was hurt. It is annoying but it can be replaced. Body parts can’t.

I’m sorry about your saw, what caught my attention was the “Danger Will Robinson” I use the phrase a lot around my wife we both watched that show, kind of shows are age.

Yep, made in China. I’m hoping they provide a refund so I can get something better. Upon further examination I never was too pleased with the mis-machining of the fence and the play in the pivot. Only a couple degrees of play that you really don’t notice until you’re assembling a couple 45’s. I do consider myself lucky, it kind of freaks you out a bit as the sparks and smoke are going and the motor was just screaming increasing in RPM’s like it was going to take off. So in that brief few seconds you’re fiddling with the handle, the switch, you look at the cord to yank it out of the socket, and even that freaks you for a milisecond as you think about shock. I’ll never buy Wilton again, lets see how customer service deals with it today. I have a contact that asked for all the numbers and I have them today.

The recall site says “Manufactured in: China”. I don’t buy anything from China any more. And like I always say, it’s cheaper to get the expensive one. You can spend $20 on a drill and end up buying 5 of them, or you can spend $60 and never have to buy another. I can burn out a Black & Decker drill in 30 minuets (done it) but the Dewalt I have has been running for years. Same goes for all tools, hand and power.

My advice? Get the replacement (a refund is unlikely), don’t open the box and sell it on Ebay, even if you have to take a loss. Then buy a good one.

So very true Michael. I am a machinist and a foundryman…I certainly know better. I’ll even tell customers who are taking thier business overseas “I’ll be right here for you when you gain a better handle on the cost of quality”

The irony of it, Michael, is that B&D has owned Dewalt since the sixties. The name had become synonymous with quality and reliability in the trades. Mr. Dewalt had earned that reputation with his innovative design for a stationary crosscut machine that could work all day and take a beating while doing it. We know them today as radial arm saws. In other words, B&D bought a rep to slap on their “best” grade toolage. So far so good.

Well it took a number of emails and Phone calls, but today I got my money back. Well, sort of..they put the money back on my debit card which I will not see for 3-10 business days. And after all this and even pointing out to Blaines Farm and Fleet that they had recalled product on thier shelf…the saws are still there for purchase! Same serial numbers on the recall and all!!
