Hey folks, my first Blog entry….hope I do this right. Thank you all so much for such a warm welcome. Last night I was working on a TV stand for my roomate and I stumbled on a handy llittle tool. To sand the routed edges I used a puddy eraser to back the sandpaper to provide a nice contour match. I do some drawing so I had it handy, but they are real cheap and you can pick them up at any art store, Hobby Lobby, or Michaels and the sort. It seemed to have just the right stiffness while also being plyable, doesn’t get all over like clay or something and hey, it doubles as an eraser in the rare case you should mark something wrong. Not so rare for me, but rare for you folks I’m sure.

Not sure what puddy eraser is? Is this different from a common eraser?

Gary, it’s an eraser used in drawing that’s flexible….almost like silly puddy. The application in drawing is to shape an edge for fine detail corrections, up to flattening it out and doing some major erasing. It’s easier on the paper, not sticky but does have a slight tack to it. Unlike some things the more you work it the softer it gets so you can use it as firm or as soft as you like. Fun for kids to use when they’re drawing also.

Hey, there you go nitpicker…a “kneaded eraser” exactly the formal name for it. Something Dennis’ gnomes are sure to need. I wad mine up and keep it on the end of my pencil to keep my pencil from rolling off the bench when I’m running the random orbital.
