More pictures to come as things develop. I have wood to enclose the ceiling and it is getting warm enough to work in the shop now. You can probably just make out the stack behind all the other stuff. I had a bit of a chance to sort through the winter’s accumulation of stuff and clear the decks a little. Bill (my neighbour) will be moving his appliances to garage sale land soon so I’ll have even more room after they are gone.
- Myriad of mechanics tools (previous jobs had me as a diesel mechanic and heavy equipment operator)
- A Delta 6” jointer
- A Delta 10” compound mitre saw (didn’t know about sliding mitres saws when Jenn and I bought this one, they became available about a year or so after we had already bought this one)
- A Dewalt 733 thickness planer
- A Craftsman 10” table saw (an entry level tool bought to aid renovations to our previous home – it has paid for itself many times over)
- My new! ”Triton Router (Triton 2 1/4 hp 1/2” plunge router)!(bought after searching locally and reading about routers in FWW)
Hand tools LV Ryobi saw 3/8 Hirsch mortising chisel A really great tool, I watched some Gluetube videos to understand a mortising technique, tried it a made a fairly decent first attempt at creating a M/T joint.
You can just see the rabbeting jig sitting on my bench under the window. It is actually bright enough for me to see what I am routing when the sun is shining through the southern exposure window.

Hi Mark,
Let me echo Gary’s comments about the pictures.
Nice set of chisels too.

I think you have some formatting errors. Nice chisels, though.

Hmmm, yes the formatting seems wacked… didn’t looked like that when I previewed, back to the manual for me.

Mark,
Thanks for the pictures. They look fine to me. You have a nice shop and some interesting tools to play with. I like the extension wing on the saw. I am sure that this helps with sheet goods.
Thanks for the shop tour. I appreciate it.

Now all I have to do is clean it up from the winter deluge of stuff and start doing some woodworking. The extensions on either side of the saw are nice. I’ve cut some sheet goods on it, it is a bit light and will start to walk if I push too hard on whatever it is I’m cutting. I think I got a pretty good deal on buying the jointer and the thickness planer used from The Wooden Edge here in Brandon. They’ve been pretty decent about providing advice on tools and tolerating me wandering through their showroom.
The drill press I inherited as I did with much of the hand tools. I’ve just treated one of my #4 planes to a citric acid bath and it came out great. I discovered and interesting stamping on the side with the word “Imperfect” stamped into the side of the casting. I thought they would destroy imperfect tools but apparently this one made it into circulation. I think it was my Dad’s father’s plane so I guess it is fairly old. I’ll see if it is still usable as I cannot see what is imperfect about it. I’ll post more pictures as I get the ceiling in and as I get a bit more organized. We haven’t been in the house long so the shop (I mean garage :-) has been kind of a lower priority

Thanks for checking out my shop. When I checked out your shop I was surprised to see that you are so close to my Father in law’s shop in Regina SK. It really is a small world!
