Well I got the trim to fit (‘shortening’ the table worked) and now my daughter and I are priming it in anticipation of painting later today. Five year olds can do a surprisingly good job painting! Pictures and more later!

so after this, do you plan to build and trains or track pieces? My youngest brother used to play with these before they were branded with Thomas the Tank. My dad used to get verry agitated at the prices they chareg for simple pieces of track. Looking back, I dont’ think it would be that hard to build your own parts if you were willing to go with an assembly line and make enough pieces to justify the time spent. Just curious if this will be a future project of yours.

Yeah, I’m afraid it intrigues me to see how they are put together…and to see if I can replicate or improve on it. I’ve downloaded instruction on how to shape straight track and radiused track, I’ll have to figure out how to do switches and ascending track, but that is part of the fun…right? :-) Wht these pieces sell for is outrageous, which means there should be room for some competition by a small local guy…hmmm Maybe I should talk with Bill the Ad Guy…or at least read through his advice blogs a little more thoroughly.

well, good luck if you decide to do it. I’d be interested in a blog of the attempt. Heck, I may even give it a go and see if I could fund some of my hobby through it. The router bits they sell to make the track look convenient, but it would take some time to recoup the costs. Certainly doable though. Best of luck!

The problem is of course that there are many ‘must do’ projects ahead of my tinkering with track…hopefully I get to it before Paul outgrows the Thomas stuff LOL!
