Vacuum Press help

Part 1: Just got it, now would like some good advise

Well I was just given a vacuum press from a printer friend and just want to make sure I get the right stuff the first time. I have been to joewoodworker.com and a few veneerin sites, but want the real story from one of my lumberjock buddies. I am hoping for economical advise. Since I got it for free, I don’t want to spend a fortune on all the supplies that we will use a few times. Just wondering if a 12 mil clear vinyl shower curtain will work for small jobs.
